The Rituals

Foraged Pine Needle Tea

Provisions

1 handful Eastern White Pine needles
2 cups filtered stream water
Optional: Wildflower honey

The Process

1. Bring water to a rolling boil over the camp stove.

2. Steep the needles for 10–15 minutes.

3. Strain and practice stillness while drinking.

Field Notes

Pine needle tea is rich in Vitamin C. Pick only Eastern White Pine — needles cluster in groups of five. Avoid Yew, which is toxic. Gather from branches away from roads. The flavour is bright, resinous, quietly medicinal. Drink slowly.
